I got today a cool eMail with really sick ideas for an upcoming Skate 4 Game Title from Electronic Arts!
I know you aren’t affiliated with ea games, but I wanted to say my ideas to someone who might be interested, and see what they think. This is what I think skate 4 should have. 3 words – Old. School. Tricks.
Both freestyle and vert. Like caspers, anti caspers, rail stands, hand stands, grab manuals, one foot manuals, flat ground and grind fingerflips, proper names for grabs and inverts, and Bert slides.
Casper- dark catch then pull right stick for a manual. Anti Casper- other way. Hand stand- double grab then brake. One foot manual- manual then press mongo push button. Bert slide- power slide then the rb/r1 catch button.
A frontside grab bs 180 be called Indy as it should be, backflip 540 bs mute be called mctwist, tuck knee called del mar Indy, fs 180 mute be called slob air, mute tuck knee be called Japan, stale be called stalefish.
Impossible, flick stick down up down. Hold down for double and triple. Vice versa for front foot impossible. Roast beef, hold right stick the opposite way of mute/stalefish grabs, then fs grab button. And the bs one foot be called madonna as it should be.
Fingerflips manuals- manual, fs or bs grab, then flick stick like for a finger flip. Same for grinds. Rail stands- dark catch then hold stick left or right for either toe or heel side variations. Then can flip trick out. And re name front foot back foot as Ollie north and nollie south.
And different style boards. 80s style vert boards with one big tail, only limitation is no nollies unless you flip the board around, long boards which you can’t do tricks on but can go faster, sliding gloves so you can do Bert slides at speed and can spin around and such.
And maybe 360 spins and such, like manual, and roll the left stick around in circles. Keep spinning as long as you spin the stick. And freestyle boards that flip and spin faster but suck for stability at speed. 540 pop shove its, hold right stick at top and rotate it 270 degrees.
Pogos, flick the board as an impossible as stated earlier, then dark catch button, and flip out, the ability to spin after inverts so you can spin to fakie and such, and tweak the controls like say, instead of just the dark catch button, you also have to hold a grab trigger, so for a backside invert, you be grab, then go at the ramp in such an angle as you would do a bs invert.
To eggplant, you’d fs grab, then go for a bs invert. And if you don’t grab you do a ho ho plant, which is basically handstand on the coping. And be able to do fingerflips in inverts. And tweak it so you have to go at it at an angle to fs or bs invert. If you go straight up, you come straight back down into fakie, or into regular if you went in fakie.
And crail slides, that’s easy, just tailslide or blunt, then grab like you would to crail. And maybe be able to walk the dog, thatd be like how I described 360 pivots, except without the manual, And every time you rotated the left stick a full 360 degrees so it’s pointed down you’d hit the button for your back foot, a for Xbox or x for play station. (if you’re riding regular) and maybe old school style competitions, like how many 360 pivots you can do, slalom, and hippy jump high jump.
And have the city be a mix of San Francisco, Los Angeles (specifically Santa Monica, the birthplace of skating) and Honolulu. Honolulu has some sweet famous spots, such as off the walls and wallows. And have well hidden old skateparks from the 70s you can find, and old backyard pools where you have to hop a fence and then drain it, (other new features, and bailing out water from pools being a technique you learn early in the game) and a DAY AND NIGHT CYCLE!!!
And cannonball can be similar to how a rocket air is done, except instead of going into a nose grab then double grab, you would go tail grab then double grab. And holding the right stick half way left or right and you’d do a coco slide, which is wheels on the side whilst you stand on the opposite rail of the board. Example, you hold it half to the right, and the board goes up onto the right side wheels, whilst you stand with your feet on the left side of the board, and your heels (or toes if you’re goofy foot) on the left side wheels. Like a rail stand, except you’re moving. And like how you can drag your tail after you go into manual, you can use a coco slide to go into a rail stand, just hold it half way, then hold it all the way to the side. And once you’re into a rail stand you don’t have to hold the right stick anymore, then you can flip into another rail stand or Casper or so on.
And one wheel manuals and nose manuals could be holding the right stick halfway diagonally between a manual and coco slide, and you can one foot and spin on one wheel manuals. Truck stands can be go into dark catch, hold the stick down as if to manual like I described for a Casper, then backside grab so you’re skater will grab the nose of the board and automatically put their back foot in front of the truck, then let go of the grab for a no handed 50-50/truckstand. Or not let go and just hold it like that.
I thought of more stuff as well, cannonball can be similar to how a rocket air is done, except instead of going into a nose grab then double grab, you would go tail grab then double grab.
I think this guy have really sick ideas for Skate 4!
Would be awesome when some of this ideas come true!! 😀

Remember the old playstation Thrasher skate and destroy game. How about going along the lines of learning new tricks as you progress? Like you can’t just bust out a switch 3flip outta no where. Takes time in the r.l

I would want everything that was in Thrasher: Skate and Destroy except for the soundtrack, replace hip-hop with the likes of Green Day, Foo Fighters, the Ramones, the Misfits and the Red Hot Chili Peppers all in the soundtrack. I don’t give a shit about copyright! I just want those bands in there!

They need to put 2 person offline freeskate on the new game. I’ve been waiting for this since game 1. They even took offline multiplayer completely off skate 3!

I was thinking about this possibility the other day. If EA released skate 4 I would want to see more realistic physics, more danger, more brutal hall of meat system, better lighting, real spots, epic top name pros, and customization on a level beyond 3. If they do that, with some buses and trains actually rolling around hitting players, I think it would be a classic.
If people want to do old school, let it be included as a mode or whatever. Make a full circle on the right stick do an impossible. Instead of two buttons that pump transition, what if one did a leaning motion? In the same way the pump is done, so it doesn’t interfere with grab controls. See I thought 3 was just too easy, too unrealistic. They went for a huge market instead of catering to the limited and serious skaters. The thing that makes this game fun is you can skate a whole city using just your thumbs, without leaving the house. I thought the best thing about 3 was the park editor, it made the game kind of completely replayable and creative.
In 4, I want to see a simple improvements on these things with a focus on thrills coming from realistic physics and limitless possibilities. I want the game to be challenging and intimidating, so good its the best skating game ever made. But you know what? I think if it has new spots and hall of meat, people will buy it. Maybe not sixty million people, but I’d guess at least two or three…I hope this rumor mill pays off in the end. I want to see that progression evolve again.

They should have primo also. I figure since the analog buttons aren’t used for anything else, you could just click both L3 & R3 (PS3 controls) to pop up into primo. That can also be incorporated in manuals and caspers. Think about it, Rodney Mullen style. . . Manual and nosegrab, then flick the stick to pop a fingerflip variation, then just click the sticks and primo. It’s all really simple if the developers would take 2 seconds to think about what they have in controls. Also, the casper flip (hospital flip) should have been put in Skate 3 in the beginning! The fact that they put underflips and shuv-late flips in the game, without having casper flips, is just ignorant! ! ! When I first got the game, the first thing I tried was flicking the stick like a kickflip, then rolling it around like a shuv it. Is that not obviously the perfect control for a casper? I don’t know. I think they really just half-assed the game because they got bored with it. Otherwise, they would have had sooo many more simple tricks in Skate 3. . .

I would like to see more skaters like nyjah huston, garrett hill, or sean malto and i would like to see different times of the day during gameplay

Also a solid color wheels and wheel selection for each wheel, a griptape selection with mob, grizley, and jessup and the designs on the like the zero mob grip, redbull challenges, more secret skate spots, a house you can buy and make your own backyard skatepark
